This gentle time is helping me orientate and consider ideas that have been surfacing for a while now. I’ve been thinking about where I was last year, plans I made and what came to life. I love to consider possibilities and never feel bad about leaving many unrealised because the ones that make it are partly at least a gift from someone else in another place; just can’t be more precise, things work out or don’t.

My essential tool kit in my creative life are a set of principles and my intuition. The minimalist mantra, does it bring me joy? works every time; I didn’t like the packing and posting part of selling for example but I love making things from plants, taking photos and writing. Then there are the strong leanings I have: the French language, American art and literature and the natural world refuse to move to one side.  So for the new year, I have some ideas about writing an e course, using different cameras, weaving, painting cloth with plant dyes, and making a dress or two, things I’ve not tried before. Being a beginner is a joy that kindles something you haven’t seen in yourself before. And I want to write letters maybe jottings to myself using the tangents that go off in my head most days or letters to other people.

I feel quite energised for just having written down my thoughts now. Vague is good at this stage and I’ll be taking each idea into the shower with me over the next week or so. Maybe you are taking stock of this year’s experiences and planning for the next months too. Please comment in the box below. I’d love to know what you think of slow planning and what your ideas are.
